WHICH SLING IS RIGHT FOR ME?

SINGLES Ideal for anyone! Experienced or just starting out, the single layer, standard weight sling is perfect for quick ups.

TRIPLES Perfect for anyone who tends to wear or plans to wear for longer periods of time (>30min). The patent pending triple shoulder sling has an extended shoulder as well as an additional layer to provide your shoulder and back with comfort and support on those longer walks. Unique to True North Slings, this can be your one and only sling from newborn to toddler.

1UP: A better alternative to a double layer sling, our 1UP slings are a single layer of thicker linen (1.25 to 1.5 times the thickness of our standard weight). You get the comfort and support of a double layer, without the bulk of two layers of fabric. Recommended for experienced slingers due to some initial difficulty of adjusting the fabric through the rings.

WHICH LENGTH IS RIGHT FOR ME?

All pictures on our website show various length True North Slings (each picture identifies the length). If you are able to find a picture of a caregiver who is similar to your body type you will see where the tail of the ring sling will stop on you. Length of the ring sling is really not associated with your height, but more with how broad you are through your chest and shoulders. Feel free to join our chatter page on Facebook to get additional feedback from our wonderful customers regarding what size is most suitable. You can also reach out to us directly. We also have a sizing guide which shows some of our customers along with their measurements and the type of sling they are wearing. The sizing guide would give you an idea of how the sling would look on you.

Additionally, if you love the ring sling, but we are out of stock of your ideal length, you can purchase a longer version and add a note to your order that it should be cut down to a certain size. We will send the remnants to you, or donate them to one of the shops we collaborate with (Parker and Posie and Fawn & Lace)

ARE YOUR RING SLINGS SAFE?

Yes they are! Our slings are made from top quality linen, weight and flammability tested in compliance with Canadian and American safety regulations. Our Aluminum rings are all weight tested to 220 pounds and as with all ring slings, they are approved for use with infants and toddlers from 8-35lb. Proper use of your ring sling is important to ensure your baby's safety. Please take time to watch our videos and read the instruction booklet and safety warnings that come with your sling. Most cities have local babywearing groups - a wonderful resource when it comes to learning how to wear your baby safely.

We are members of the Baby Carrier Industry Alliance (BCIA) and safety committee members at ASTM helping to improve safety standards for baby carriers. Our ring slings are tested by a third party lab and are compliant with the Canadian Consumer Product Safety Act (CCPSA), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) weight testing requirements as well as the US Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA). We take safety seriously and ensure that even optional safety standards are adhered to.

WHY LINEN?

Linen is one of the oldest and strongest fabrics in the world. Linen is not a thirsty crop and so its more eco-friendly than most other fabrics. Because of its strength and loose weave it is cool, breathable and light weight. Linen has no stretch and doesn't stretch out over time. It drapes beautifully for an elegant look that you'll easily be able to dress up or down.

Our linen is grown and milled in Europe, then dyed and softened in the States. Finding the right balance of softness and sturdiness has been so important to us. One isn't more important than the other, because at the end of the day, we want even our single layer linen slings to be able to comfortably take you to the end of your babywearing days. We hope you love them as much as we do!!

HOW DO I USE AND CARE FOR MY SLING

We have some great video tutorials on our Learn page. Have a look there and if you are having any trouble, don't hesitate to reach out to us via email or join our Facebook Chatter | Buy Sell Trade page to get tips from our True North family.
Linen is very easy to care for! Machine wash in cold water and lay flat to dry. While it’s not necessary to iron your sling, if you prefer, iron with steam at medium-to-hot. If you choose to use detergent, please make sure that its free of optical brighteners. Store your sling in a cool dry place; avoid plastic bags, cardboard boxes and cedar chests.
